There is a serial killer preying on porn actresses and they decide that they aren't going to just sit back and take that shit. I know that doesn't seem like much of a synopsis, but how much do you want from an 80-page novella? Let's move on, okay.
Basically, if you like simple, quick, kinda cheesy and quite violent romps, you'll like this book. The premise is simple, but Cole plays with it in some interesting ways. Characters are fairly thin, but the story moves quickly and keeps the fun factor turned up. I wish he had gone a bit harder on the violence and gore, especially in scenes that had been built up as setpieces, as some of them flew by a bit too quickly and didn't hit as hard as I would have preferred.
Cole's treatment of the porn industry and those who work in it was an incredibly pleasant surprise, though. There is no lionizing, TITTIES AND PUSSY ALL DAY, WEEEEEEEE!, bullshit or demonizing, SINNERS SINNERS SINNERS, assholery. They're just people trying to get by, doing a job. It doesn't come as a surprise that the shittier people are those in positions of power, but that is par for the every damn job on the planet. I also dug that gay porn was also represented decently.
I also got a huge kick out of the jabs at anonymous and internet culture that lay at the heart of a fun little twist that I won't spoil for you. Except to say that the Fedora usage had me in fucking stitches. That was just the best.
Triple Axe isn't big on deep meditations on the human condition, it's about jumping in, putting the pedal to the metal and tearing asphalt. But in a giant dildo murder sort of way. It's every bit of what Tarantino's Death Proof should have been but, like, fun instead of boring as hell.
